Last week the world was awakened by the death of
almost 300 people on Malaysian Airline Flight 17 on their way from Amsterdam,
Netherlands to Malaysia. The flight was shot down by a missile from Russian
rebels. How did these rebels get hold of this sophisticated missile? We see the
Russian government's fingerprint all over this horrific incident. Therefore,
this is my suggestion. If Putin's government does not come clean on this issue,
I am appealing to FIFA and the International Community to change the venue of
the next World Cup in 2018 to another stable and peaceful country. The
international community should not remain silent when precious lives have been
destroyed simply because Putin wants to flex his muscles in an effort to
restore the Russian Empire. What has added insult to injury is the fact that
these Russian rebels do not want to release the bodies of the deceased to their
families for decent burials. Why has the EU and United States not put more
pressure on Russia to come clean and accept their culpability in this sad and
brutal killing of innocent people who were just passing through the Ukraine's
airspace? The international community should continue to demand answers from
Russia and the separatists. We should all be in prayer for the many families
that have been affected by this unfortunate and sudden death.
May the souls of these passengers and crew rest in
peace.
