A CHRISTIAN IN AN UNGODLY WORLD

"Woe is me, that I sojourn in Meshech, that I dwell among the tents of Kedar" (Psalm 120:5).
As Christians our lot is to live among ungodly people in this fallen world. Therefore you and I should not say, "Woe is me" if we live in the world. Jesus did not pray to the Father to take us out of the world, but instead that we might be protected from the evil one. This makes a whole lot of difference.
You live in the world as light that shines in the darkness. Light exposes darkness. Light provides illumination for people to see their way. Therefore, as believers or Christians our outward life should reflect our inward life. The work that the Holy Spirit has done inside us should come out for the world to see so that they would glorify the heavenly Father. We should let our conversation and conduct be without reproach so that even though people of the world speak evil of us, they may see our good works and glorify the Father in heaven.
Like Daniel let them say of you "As for this Daniel (put your name there) we cannot find any fault with him, except it is about his God." What a great testimony that would be! You should set an example for the lost world that your presence will always be a rebuke to them. This happens when unbelievers see you live a holy life. This implies that you should live like a true servant of Jesus Christ wherever you find yourself. Your presence should bring encouragement to the discouraged. Your presence should give hope to the hopeless.
Wherever you walk, you should let the sweet aroma of your impact be felt in every heart. Have you walked beside or behind a person who is wearing a sweet perfume or fragrance on his/her body? You can smell the scent from a distance and you wish the scent will not disappear. That is what Christ wants you to be to the lost and dying world. Your lifestyle and how you carry yourself should be winsome and contagious to people especially, those who are yet to come to Christ.
All the saints of God have lived and walked in this sinful world, but they have left their marks. As they lived in this perverse world, but did not soil or stain their lives with the sinful practices of the world, so does God want you to live your life. Therefore, brighten the corner where God puts you. Christians are to make positive impact in any place God puts us. We should leave a more positive influence on this world than when we found it. The Monks who withdrew and isolated themselves from the mainline society during the Middle Ages or Medieval times were a poor testimony to Christ, who lived and dined among sinners. In fact, they called Him "A friend of sinners." This was a disparaging or pejorative remark but Jesus embraced it. Once He said that "He came to seek and to save the lost." He did not come for the righteous but the unrighteous.
Therefore, let it not be said of us "Woe is me that I sojourn in Meshech" but rather blessed are those who live in Meshech because the Lord is shinning His light in and through them that the darkness is fleeing. Brighten the corner where God has put you. Go and light your world with the candle of life that Christ has given you.
