I was not in Ghana to witness what transpired during
the just ended political elections. However, if the ruling party rigged the
elections then, it is sad and a big shame to Ghana because Ghana is supposed to
be the trailblazer for genuine democracy in the sub-Saharan Africa. However, I
am neither naive nor oblivious to the power drunkenness and greed of some
African leaders. What does the report of the international observers say about
the elections? I read the piece from ex-President Obasanjo of Nigeria. However,
I felt that the others should have weighed in. Instead of resorting to violence
and assault, the NPP should seek the right process to redress this issue so
that a similar situation would not happen in the near future. It is one thing
to win an election but it is another to lead the nation out of the joblessness,
poverty, lack of infrastructure, and economic hardships that confront Ghana. I
enjoin the Ministers of the Gospel to preach peace, reconciliation, and pray
for divine intervention for the nation.
I
believe also that time is ripe for the charlatans, self-acclaimed, and
self-imposed prophets of Ghana to desist from their false prophecies and
assurances to our politicians. Furthermore, those who have the genuine call and
anointing of God on their lives should remain true to the gospel, which is the proclamation
of the birth, death, burial, resurrection, and the second advent of Christ.
That means they have to caution or warn the imposters, peddlers, and hawkers of
the gospel to be saved and refrain from their duplicity. The glamour of greed
and the embrace of the dubious "prosperity gospel" by some of the preachers
are doing more harm than good to the nation and the cause of Christ. What can
save and lift the nation from the ashes, quagmire, doldrums, and various
problems is the untainted and timeless gospel of Jesus Christ. Therefore, I
challenge the preachers to live and preach the simplicity of the gospel of
Christ. Christ is the only One who brings salvation, contentment, peace, love,
and unity.
The
government of Ghana on the other hand, should not become too much obsessed with
the oil findings, extraction, and production. Ghana should learn its lesson
from Nigeria. The oil discovery and production are not the perfect panacea for
the deeply rooted problems of the country. What we need is efficient and
effective leadership that would make good use of all the resources of the
country for the benefit of the suffering people of Ghana. My unceasing prayer
is with the nation and its people. May God be gracious and merciful to Ghana.
